The hardest life to leave is one that’s perfectly fine.
I grew up in Devon and moved to London at 18. Over the next ten years, I built a life there, with a safe, stable career and people I loved around me. I was grateful for it, but kept wondering what else life could look like.
In 2023, I spent a year travelling. Watching the sunrise from Poon Hill in Nepal, I felt completely present. On the way down, I cried. It’s still the moment I remember most clearly from that year.
When I came home, I wasn’t sure my old life still fitted. Since then, I’ve started Journeys by JJ, left London and spent a year between Devon and a motorhome. In October 2026, I started a year’s unpaid career break.
Now I’m travelling while trying to make the business work. I need to earn a living along the way too. Some days I feel excited. Other days I wonder what I’m doing. I share both. If you’ve ever loved your life and still wanted something to change, you’ll probably recognise some of it.
